Hey Folks,
Got a 2004 3.0L 5 spd ranger to tow behind a motorhome. Can anyone tell me why Ford specifies 55 mph maximum towing speed? If the gears are lubed at 55 mph what stops them from being lubed at 60 mph or more?

Welcome to TRS

Not sure about the towing speed - maybe centrifugal force slings the lube away - LOL. Seriously though - no idea . . .

Can't answer your question..but....Welcome to TRS!! :icon_cheers:

Welcome, I'm fairly new here too. As for your question your best answer would come from your local Ford dealer parts or service dept.:dunno: Sorry we couldent be more help.

they must think its a chevy pulling it, they can only make it to 55mph, but they get decent mpg
