I am a long time F-150 owner, I recently bought an '02 Ranger w/3.0L, 2WD, and A/T. I needed a reprieve from my thirsty V8, and went with the smaller Ranger. It is an awesome little truck, but I have a question about this motor. I am running 4qts. Valvoline 5W20, and 1qt. Lucas stabilizer as lubricant. The motor runs strong, but makes a ticking noise at idle. Is this normal for this motor, or does trouble loom ahead. Also coolant is brown, I plan to change it soon. Truck has 123,000mi. Am I in over my head? Comments welcome, I really am not an idiot, just not worldly in the V6 department, Thanks.
