Hi everyone, I recently purchased a 2000 Ford Ranger XLT Supercab 4x4 / 4.0L V6 and joined the forum to get info on my newly-acquired vehicle. Looking forward to being part of the community!

2000 was the last year of the very reliable 4.0l OHV engine, 2001 and up got the higher horsepower 4.0l SOHC engines, but it had some issues, but also a good engine once repaired.
Never overheat a 4.0l OHV engine, bad things can happen , but that goes for most engines

2000 was also the last year of the PVH(pulse vacuum hub) on 4x4 Rangers, very bad front hub lock/unlock system.
All 2001 and up rangers have "Live axle" always locked front hubs, some 2000's got Live axle as well, many 4.0l Rangers did.
