I still think its a little too early to be thinking about my next project since i havent even finished my current one, but heres my idea. Ive been driving my Gen II (rescue ranger) for almost 5 years now and the body is falling apart, my outer door skins have divorced the inner door skins, my cab corners are gone, and i recently put my hand through the rear wheel well hump inside the bed . last year I purchased a Gen III with the Gen II dash in it (its a 94) and the motor is seized and the trans was already taken for my current project. my current project is almost done, but i would like to keep it "clean" for as long as i can so im thinking about rebuilding the 2.3l in my DD and swapping the Gen II cab for the Gen III cab (using the rescue rangers chassis since ive pretty much replaced every thing that can wear out on it) and then just flatbedding it so i can haul anything that i can put on it. as far as i can tell all the body mounts should line up and i will just have to swap out the clutch pedal assembly, steering column, dash harnesses and ECU (or just swap dashes, they have the same color interior), and then take care of the engine compartment wire swaping and tying up loose vaccum connections and such. I priced out the rebuild for the 2.3 and some misc. chassis parts i need like a good steering gear box and i came in at $.01 under $1,000.00 USD. what do you guys think? is it possible or are the front sections of the frame too different (boxed Gen III vs. C channel Gen II)?
