Hey guys Phil in Lowgap here, starting a new trike project using a Ranger Rear End. I thought before I buy a rear end and discover I bought the wrong one, I would consult with the experts first. The donor bike this time is a Honda GL500 which is a rather high revving engine and the rider is always looking for one higher gear at highway speeds,

I will never master the gear ratio theory and I know I want to increase road speed without increasing the engine speed so my question is what stock gearing is usually found in a stock Ranger rear end. Oh and I don't want too much of a mileage drop.

Ok experts g0 to work. I know you can do it. Thanks

Rangers have a lower spline count than explorers. But the rranger 8.8 will be plenty strong. Rangers are spring over axle explorers are spring under. Don't know if that matters to you.

I see alot of 3.73 some 3.55 there's a 3.2x. I get 20 MPG highway with 31s and 3.73. On a light bike I might say 3.55 cuz of the smaller tires but its also got less power so im not sure
