New Project Truck, dana 60, 14 bolt, 44s

lol so.... your blowing up dana 60 stuff hey why not throw a 400 horse motor in that'll fix it!! haha really though sick truck

I haven't broken any shafts since I did 35 chromos and drive flanges. :thefinger: The 400hp 351W was free. :yahoo: I got it from a guy who was building it for his truck and joined the military and just shipped out so he didn't want it sitting around. All I have to do is assemble the top end and install it. The only cash I will have in is for gaskets and a cam. :D

I would like to see a good picture of your front axle/suspension/steering set up the way you have it built now if you have any.

I will go take some. I'm running leafs up front and I have a high steer setup that puts the tierod above my leafs. My steering is full hydro.

Any new updates Nick? Been a hot minute since this thread was updated. What ever happened to the Ex?

I was actually just getting ready to update it. Its been in my garage for the past month undergoing much needed changes. The plan is do take it winter wheeling at the end of the month and then tear into it again and do a new link suspension and swap in coils. :icon_welder:

But so far since I last updated I have:

Swapped to chromo front shafts with drive flanges.

Cut and tapered my front bumper bottom back at a 45 degree angle for better approach. I gained 10 degrees. :yahoo:

Added several new X's to my cage for support, and added a bunch of pipe gussets.

Moved my rear seat location which allowed me to fit a bigger fuel tank and have more storage room. I went from 5 gal to almost 12 gal.

I also made a new mount for my highlift and added 2 new tool boxes for storage.

My last mod so far is to relocate my OBA tank to infront of my rear winch under the truck.

I will try and post some pics in the next day of two.

Sorry it took so long crawlin I've had a busy year.

Fender carnage from a spring trailride. Made a brand new trail it was worth it. First truck up the hill :yahoo:

Stock 31 spline NP203 output shaft :annoyed: So far my new billit shaft is holding strong.

Braced knuckles. Apparently its very common to break the knuckle around the kingpin when you run high steer with hydro and big tires. I was gonna buy reid knuckles but the braces were only $100 and knuckles are $600 so I figured I'd try these first. So far so good.

Beefy 35 spline chromos. I had to grind the knuckle so that the ears would fit through. They are proving to be very tough. :headbang:

another carnage pic from this past labor day. Oops :D

Pic of my front bumper mod from last month.

Another shot

Cage braces. They should double as a "ramp" for trees that seem to get wedged on my cage on real tight trails.

Cage after the gf painted it. It has since been covered in padding and the seat and new fuel tank is back in.

what dimensions and model is you ram?

Its from Tractor Supply Co. Im not sure of the brand. It was originally red. It is a 8"x2" I believe. I had a 2.5" also at one time but it steered too slow with the valve setup I have plus I trashed it on a huge rock before I had a high steer.

Teaser pics of things to come.

Currie Johnny Joints for my link bars.

New yokes. I'm also building new driveshafts when I do the links.
