Photo time:
The photos are of my first setup. Afterwards, I decided to add another HDD for Recording TV, Backup, and Video Games. This way I save the SSD space and speed for programs that can benenfit it.
First shipment. No case yet, so I just got to look, stare, and read the instructions.
Salvaged parts from my old PC. 3x Seagate 1TB HDD, 1x Geforce 9800GT, 1x ATI Theater 550 Pro TV tuner, 1x Creative Labs X-Fi, 1x DVD-Rom, 1x DVD Burner.
The new PC case with the Western Digital SSD already installed.
Monster size Zalman PSU 850W. I choose this one because of the huge 120mm fan and dual heatpipe heatsinks. I wanted no noise.
EVGA X58 3-way SLI motherboard.
Parts installed and cards installed. Just gotta work on the wiring and drives.
Wiring done and drives ready.
You know, this has got to be the nicest layout print that I have every got to use. Most MoBo layouts are in the instruction manual. Not on a full color, large print out.
And here it sits in its new spot. Amie dog approved. She already doesn't mind it since it is quite.
When I built this PC, I had a few set goals. 1.) Massive storage, 2.) Quite, 3.)Power. I have achieved all three. Storage is on this layout, 1x 128GB SSD (OS and Programs), 1x 500GB HDD (Recorded TV, Backup, Games), 3x 1TB HDD in Raid 5 (All my encoded video, Anime). As for being quite, can barely tell that it is running. Just the soft idle humm of the fans. And CPU power is not to be taken lightly. Had a full HD video (1080P, 5.1 Sound) that requires a lot of processing power. My old Pentium D was just barely up to the task, but video lagged in some fast action scenes. The new Core i7, just a walk in the park. Cpu usage difference is >95% (PenD) to <15% (i7).
