Hello from Ohio! Bought an '86 Ranger earlier this year and have been reading through a ton of material on the site. Truck is in good shape, just been catching up on some deferred maintenance stuff.

Welcome to TRS!

NICE looking truck. It looks to be in outstanding condition.

Charcoal Grey Metallic with red interior short box; that's a dead ringer for my first Ranger, except mine was an '85 model. Brings good memories.

It's in great shape. I think it may be a repaint, but if it is they did a great job and kept the original color. Title wise it's a 4 owner truck I guess but it was owned by the same guy for over 30 years. His son inherited it when he passed away and sold it to the dealer I got it from. From what I can tell it has spent its whole life in Ohio. Just over 99k on the odometer and that also seems to be actual mileage.

Needs tie rod ends and is running super rich. Got a rebuild kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts. Never really messed with a carb before, but its a pretty common one and there seem to be lots of videos on rebuilding them.

Fun little truck to drive. It had been a while since I had driven something with manual steering and brakes lol.

Nice ride! Is that a sunroof? Carbureted so 2.0?

Again, Dang nice truck --- Great find!

Yep, from the paperwork in the truck I think the sunroof was a dealer installed option? And yeah, the 2.0.

There's a good chance that the truck was born as a "Ranger S" model, and that the dealership added some accessories. That was REAL common in the '80s; it was profitable for the dealer.

The dealer would have to have added the rear bumper if that was the case. The sunroof, rear slider and radio antenna all look to be aftermarket. Nothing wrong with that- my first three Rangers were "S" models; they were the most affordable, and I then added what I wanted.

Your dash pad looks to be in good shape. I would highly recommend getting one of those reflective, foldable sun shields and having in place in the windshield whenever the truck is not in use. It'll go a long way toward keeping the interior from deteriorating.

You have a really nice truck there. Those stock wheels are hard to find in that nice of condition.
