Hello to all-

My name is David and I am from Louisville, KY. I have a 98 Ranger-been a good vehicle. I have had to put some money in it recently-front end work last month. Then the power steering quit last week. I replaced the pump but am having the following problem: the power steering seems to come and go on it. It is usually more noticable on a straight. I tried turning the wheels hard both directions in the driveway but problem persists. I bought a reman-should I try replacing the hose first or did I get a bad pump?

If it was doing the same before, it sounds like your steering rack is going bad.
