well i just joined caues im looking into getting a ranger, for offroad mostly mud use, im 17 live in GA, and drive a 1981 Ford Bronco when gas money permits, its gets around 5mpg, which is why im looking into a ranger, bronco is for sale, if it sales soon im hoping to get this ranger...

6"lift on 35" claws for $1k, its got 4.56 gears front/rear, and its got the 4.0 but those would be changed for something a little less steeper, its got body damage, but it would be a beater truck for me, as long as this thing gets over 10mpg im ballin.. haha, before bronco i was driving a foxbody mustang, so im not use to good mileage, well heres the bronco

its got 2" leveling kit, with blocks in rear, with a 3" bodylift on 35" BFG all terrains. 351w, beast in the mud, plowed through solid mud higher than the bumpers, and even left me stranded in the middle of a retention pond without a cellphone and made me walk home. haha. well it sucks on gas and i need something a little less smaller with a smaller engine

nice bronco.

i would say you'd definitely want AT LEAST 4.56s on a ranger with 35s, even with the 4.0.

i have 4.56s with 33s and a 4.0, and i wouldn't be unhappy if i had gone with 4.88s.

thanks for the tip, ill decide when i get it, only reason i would change em would be for gas mileage, but it probaly wont be driven on highway anyways so no big deal. i hope i can get it

Welcome to the site and I hope it works out for you on the ranger.

dont ask, cause i cant explain, but its not an exageration, $10 gets me to school and back for one day, and to nowhere else, and im only 4miles from my school

Wow, it's pretty hard to make something get mileage like that. Sounds like it needs a tuneup or something, bare minimum.

Nice truck though. I almost bought an '85 Bronco that looked just like that one a few years back.

Nice truck. I've seen that thing somewhere. Where in GA you live?

i live in mcdonough / stockbridge, previous owner lived in lawrenceville

thats what i thought, but this thing runs strong, the engine was rebuilt like right before i bought it like 2 months ago. everything is like new underhood

edit: just found this picture, kind of dirty, there was no water when we went muddin that day, just reallllly thick as hell mud

Thats a nice looking Ho! I sold my old 83 bronco that looked new an rocked a 300ci inline 6 an a 4 gear. After driving my ranger **** my bronco! haha oh i had a 93 Ho with a 351ci an got 7mpg hahahahaha

i dont see how you get 5 mpg when i have a 5.8 in my 95 bronco with 39.5 and 13'' lift and i get about 9-10 mpg what do you have a 400

haha, no its a 351w, somethings not right, ima adjust timing and some other stuff tomorrow, run some seafoam through it, see how dirty engine is on the inside. but i need something smaller with a smaller engine anyways, insurance is a bitch right now with a v8 4x4, at 17years old
