bought a new to me Edge last week. only came with one key, and something that I noticed on Car Gurus is that most (at least 85 percent) of the vehicles listed only shown one key... is this a new trend? does Ford not give out 2 keys anymore as standard? but anyways, from the dealer I figure 3 to 400 bucks. Any cheaper and reliable options? will I be able to set it up and do it in Forscan with the single key or am I hosed and at the mercy of a dealer?

AJ

Above Forscan. Security stuff is rather... secure.

Locksmiths can make keys for you too.

I’ve bought 4 new Fords since 2020, they all came with 2 keys. I usually don’t have my spare key with me when I turn the vehicle in so I have a stockpile of Ford keys and key fobs. That’s how you wind up with only 1 key.

Which one do you need?

i take my spare keys in later if i get rid of a vehicle unexpectedly. i had to go home and get the other 3 to my titan when the wife traded it for the wrangler. and the dang wrangler only came with one so i had to pay 2 or 300 for a second one as the wife is fond of temporarily losing her key

The third from the bottom is an exact replica of what I need lol.

Now if only it will unlock and start my car... plus what are the ods of the actual physical key fitting and working the locks

we should have known this was all your fault. :buttkick:

:woot:

They still give two keys with a vehicle. The P.O. just either forgot or never brough the second key in when the sold or traded it in. Some people also lose a key and never bother to replace it because of the cost and need to get it programmed.

Chipped keys are expensive enough. The ones that combine the remote with the key are ridiculously priced.

Most Fords after about the 2015 model year are using the second generation of PATS that requires a locksmith ID to set up keys.

The odds are about a million to one.
I’ll give you the fob. Maybe you can get a cheap aftermarket key and use this Ford fob.
