New Instrument Cluster 2002 ranger * UPDATE 10/16/09 *

Well I was at the junk yards today looking for a white face cluster to replace my stock black one. Kept going from one yard to another and only finding ones that were already gone. So I stopped at one last place before giving up . I found 2 exploders with the white faces. One was an 2001 4x4,but one one side had a fuel reset indicator and not a check fuel cap like mine. So looked around and found a 2002 2 wd with the check fuel cap indicator so I just switched that side of the cluster out with the 2001 cluster. Ended up just moving my odometer from my old cluster over to the new one to save time. Worked well.Replaced the black HVAC with a silver one out of the 01 ( should of gotten the 02 instead ). Took a little trimming and tweaking on one connection because it was slightly different, but it works great now.Only spent $35.00 for the cluster and HVAC.

I'll post pictures tonight after my wife gets home with the camera!

P.S. My speedo is off by 5 to 7 mph ( over ) lol

Awesome!!

speedo shouldn't be over if you did the calibration right. Was your speedo dead on before?

nice!! i have one on mine too!!
the stock i had had the fuel reset, but the new one has the check fuel cap lol
i guess when the truck wont start and the check cap light comes ON its meaning to reset the pump switch

I paced a friend. He stayed at 40 and I was off by 7. I'll adjust it in a bit.

mines a bit off too, read slower than actual speed by 2-3 miles i think. but im too lazy to adjust it now lol, maybe later when i upgrade to led :D
dont forget to show pics!

u got 2 different type of needles there.
u replaced the silver bezel on the cluster??
i dont like that much the silver A/C control panel, but looks nice too!!
nice work

The other ones were already missing. So at the time I didn't have a choice.Debating on using my old ones.

why not painting the red line on the other 4?? on the round section.
white faces with white needles wont look too good...
mine has em like the 2 of the gauges u swapped, looks better imo.
i rolled the odo on the cluster i got, since it had less miles than my truck it was an easy job lol.

I just thought about that before reading your post lol. Gonna get some model paint and a small brush and paint em over. The one I got had a lot more then mine read so I just switched out the odometers. The biggest pain was the HVAC controls. All but 1 connection were the same., but with a little thinking and trimming, it worked out fine.I was going to use the silver bezel, but I think the black brings out the white gauges more.

Now I am going to use my old cluster and practice taking the green paint off the back of the cluster and see how it comes out. That way if I f**k up. No big deal!

Say, wernt you the one who linked me to a Silver ranger cluster that had 4 orange needles and 2 white needles...just so happens the wrong needles are in the same place on your new cluster too! lol.

yeah seems like removing the green film isnt that hard, i want to upgrade to led on mine, but keeping the green film

fork to the needles, then rip the overlays off. pretty simple.

Ok, I finished removing the film from the back of my stock black cluster ( took a few hours ) and installed inverted LEDs that I had laying around. I am not pleased with the inverted at all ( they work great in my cab light and HVAC controls ). In some places It comes out nice and others you can see where it is slightly darker. The original lights came through perfectly ( after i removed the film ) so I know it's the inverted, but here are some pics of the white face gauges and the blue LEDs ( might do red to match my truck color ). Which is better? My wife likes the blue. I am tempted to do this to my white face gauges. ( got the speedo adjusted perfectly now by the way )

The LEDs played hell with the cams optics so sorry for the fuzzy pics.

isnt that too much blue??
maybe red would be better, can u keep the needle bulb white?, so it still lights up red/orange stock.
maybe with a better pic we can get it, that ones too blury
