New guy here from Ohio, been looking for a truck for a while now, but didn't really want to get something nice as a truck is meant to be used and abused. Anyway, after browsing craigslist endlessly, I had almost given up due to my low price range and how well trucks hold their value. Seeing rust bucket after rust bucket for around $2k left me thinking I'd never get one.

Then after talking with my mom, turns out her new boyfriend had one sitting in his yard he wanted rid of. Went and looked at it, needed some work, but overall was decent. It's a 1994 Mazda B4000 with 181k miles on it, only rust is the rear bumper and bottom of tailgate. Starting to come through a tad on the rear wheel well, but not showing yet. The best part.. I got it for $500, and it's drivable.

As of right now it's sitting at the shop getting new leaf spring shackles and mounts (front+back), as well as a small crack in the frame fixed. After buying the parts, and paying for labor.. I'm probably around $1100 invested in it so far, which still doesn't seem too bad I guess.

Other things that need fixed:
New 4wd manual hubs.. automatics are shot
Motor gear in the transfer case is bad. (Replacement is on the way)
A/C is out, needs a new compressor.
Driver's seat is busted, but replacing with leather Explorer ones anyway.
EGR downpipe(?) rusted out, exhaust leaking.

Just got the truck back from the shop... new hangers/shackles/bushings in the rear. Finally sitting even in the back and looks so much better.. can easily see the difference between my first set of pics. Now it's safe to drive, they told me I was driving on only 1 complete hanger, and just that and the shocks were holding the axle in place.
