Hey how's it goin? I have an 89 BII. I blew out the tranny and I was thinkin about either have the A4LD rebuilt or just swapping motor, tranny, and axles. Which would be a better choice on a budget? Also is anyone in the Charleston area that wouldn't mind showin me a few things mechanic wise as I'm a beginner in that field. I also have the rear windows intact and with hardware if anyone wants to make a deal. thanks have a great day.

Hey man glad to see another Charlestonian here. I am here in the North Charleston area (assuming you mean Charleston, SC) lol. I am no knowledgeable mechanic but I have done 99% of all the work on my B2. I havent swapped out the motor, trans, or axles yet but for the setup I got I am in no need of the 4.0 or the D35 axles. Good luck with the build and if you need any help let me know (again assuming you mean Charleston, SC). Many things I can do and many I can't but I'll be the first to admit if I can't.

Yea I'm in West Ashley. I really don't want to do a full swap yet because when I wheeled it before the tranny broke it did everything I wanted it to. I did just recently chop the top and need to get a roll cage setup. I don't have a welder or anything. Other than that I want to fab up some custom bumpers and need to work on the headlights, the guy that had it before me busted up the frames and bolts.

Yeah that is my biggest issue is not being able weld. I wish I could help you out with a trans. I got one out of an 87 ford ranger 2wd but from my understanding the 2wd trans is different from the 4wd.

Yea I believe there is a difference in the two transmissions. Need to get out to a junk yard and look for some odds and ends stuff.

Don's Car Crusher in Summerville has several rangers you can pull parts out of. There is also LKQ over on Rivers Avenue but I am not sure how many rangers they have out there. I havent found any junk yards locally with Bronco IIs but I might not be looking hard enough. I have found my last two parts trucks in people's yards. If I see an old ranger sitting in a field or in someone's yard and it looks like it hasn't moved Ill go up and try and buy it off them for $100-200. I have gotten 2 complete rangers and just scrapped the last one last week.

Alright thanks for the info I'll give those places a shout. Do you have anything you would be willing to get rid of?
