Hey everyone, my name is david, i'm from wisconsin, i've been looking around this site for the past few weeks and decided to join. I'm young seeing as i got my liscence and truck this past august. My father and i went searching for a truck with character and we found one. An 88' ford ranger 5spd 2.9 ltr. high lifter edition. It has a pushbutton 4 wheel drive system with manual locking hubs. The roll bar on it was factory installed and it actually has the ford logo on it. He wanted 1,500$ for it with the stereo system, but talked him down to 800 with an inspection from a mechanic my dad knows. The problem was the front end. The tie rods where shot, and so were the tires. There's a nice deck(you'll see it in the pics) with a 760w pioneer amp with a 12' pioneer sub. So i've had this truck for the past 4 months and this is the work we've done so far.
All done at home
Replaced tie rods
Replaced cluth(blew it out)
Spark plugs
replaced heater core
Replaced starter and solenoid
Replaced u-joints
Reconfigured stereo system(installed poorly when we bought it)
New front tires
Sorry to rant on but i want to kind of explain some of the repairs. I had to replace the rear u-joints because there was a u-joint failure while going down the road and it blew out the yoke of the rear sub-driveshaft. So the driveshaft was repaired in shop and we installed everything else. We had to replace the clutch because i did some off-roading and it heated up and went. i don't really know how that happened. but all the work for that was done at a friends house that had all the proper tools. In total the cost of that was 200 so it wasn't to bad.
Well sorry for the long post. I love my ranger and can't wait to be apart of this awsome forum. I will post pic's once you guys let me know how to
