new guy with a question

hey guys,

I would like to start by saying hi, and I currently dont own a ranger, but I may be buying one from my father soon. he is looking into getting a new ranger, except the 2010 dont offer the FX4 anymore, so he would have to go with a sport. He currently owns a FX4 Level II, and we know the 4wd system is different.

Can anyone tell me if the different system is any less capable? im not positive how it works, but i heard it doesnt have LSD.

i guess him an i are curious as to the difference in capability. He doesnt do serious off roading, but he does go on occasion.

I would say look at fords website and see what is offered with what model.

I'm a Ford Tech, the sport and the FX4 L2 aren't too different. The 4x4 systems should be identical with the possible exception of gear ratios being changed. I think the FX4 has a heavier suspension than the Sport, but if this isn't supposed to be a heavy trail truck but just for getting out to the hunting grounds or down the trail to the fire wood pile then the Sport should be just as capable. You may wear the shocks out a little faster, but if you are that worried about it, when they do go, go out and buy yourself some Rancheros. Those should more than make up for the difference. The FX4 might also sit a bit higher, but with all the skid plates they throw up under those things anymore I wouldn't worry about scraping bottom.
