Well my introduction was really in the urgent help section, but now that it's all patched up, I figured I'd post here.
A friend of mine sold me a 1999 Ranger that he got tired of dealing with, and it had been sitting for years with problems he couldn't diagnose.
Turned out the fuel pump hose had simply slipped off the pump outlet. Autozone gave me a free piece of scrap hose and now the truck runs like a champ. I was on a wild goose chase under the impression the truck was a 1999 as far as parts went, and assumed the in tank pressure regulator had given up the ghost. It turns out the truck was built in '98 as a '99 model. That meant no in tank regulator to deal with and a much simpler problem than I anticipated.
The truck got a new fuel pump, new clutch and slave, new tires, and some other odds and ends before I bought it. Of course it needed a new battery, and I went ahead and replaced the IAC, coolant temp sensors, coolant, and a fresh charge of R-134a.
I still need to do some research and find good shocks for the front and rear, as well as replace the front steering components.
Overall the truck is in great shape and has amber metallic color with tan interior, pretty little truck.
This will be my daily driver and will likely get some larger tires, leveling spacers from FatBob's up front and maybe a pre-runner treatment later on.
Now for a few pictures:
First day after it was dropped off
Started cleaning up the interior
