New guy in Florida. 2001 Ranger Step side. Bought in 2008 in Texas. Moved her to Florida. Then gave her to son in Alabama, she visited him for 7 years. She's back with us again in Florida. Wife loved the little truck.

Used her to tow our little 19' Key West for about a year or two. Kind of thought that might have been a little too much, but the Ranger did fine. Never failed to jerk that 3200 lb boat right out of the launch.

Welcome to TRS!

Truck looks nice.

She is a good neighbor. Love having her around. She does need a customer professional paint job. Wife wants to change the Ranger paint to metal flake bright Ivory White. Truck is fine EXCEPT, there is an issue with the coolant temp sensors.

We've installed both sensors, Motorcraft parts twice (different part numbers), and the gauge still does not report accurately. Ford dealer says this 2001 was a mid-year drawing change vehicle, and the thermostat block was replaced and the sensors changed. And considering that it is a 2001, the IPC parts breakdown is 24 years old, and Ford is not updating it. So, Essential Ford's Parts Department in Stuart FL did a wonderful job of researching the problem and discovered that the ECM sensor is now in the back, and the gauge sensor is in the front. But because TWO Motorcraft gauge sensors have been installed and the gauge still only reports about 3% of temp band, we think the gauge is not functioning accurately. Within the same month we replaced the radiator, thermostat twice, water pump, and four coolant temp sensors.

This morning, we put a Motorcraft DY-1144 (a 1145 is the same as the 1144 but with a pig tail connector) in the aft ECM position, and a SW-5174 in the forward gauge position. The gauge is not reporting. Both positions have been replaced twice. Funny how Motorcraft has multiple different part numbers for each of the same two sensors.

Comically, we just got our 2006 F150 Lariat 5.4 3v dash instrument cluster back from Circuit Board Medics. Maybe now, the Ranger has to go, too.
