Since when did Ford put the 4R44E behind the 4.0? I have yet to see one behind the 4.0. The combo has always been 4.0/5R55E/8.8.
I'd like some proof if i'm wrong.
From the tech library:
Trans Code Vehicle
5R55E D 1997 - 2009 4.0L Rangers (1997-2001 Explorer w/4.0L)
4R55E T 1995-2001 4.0L Rangers
automatic with 140,000+. if you keep good care of the truck, it'll run into the 300,000 mile mark without a hitch. the break-in period for these pushrod V6s is 200,000 miles. the transmission is nearly bulletproof.auto trans or manual?

4.0 OHV's have timing chains.Does this engine have a timing belt or chain? I'm assuming belt.
