Owned my 83 diesel Ranger since 1987 will now replace eng with 1994 Mustang 302 HO. Glad:unsure: to hear all info out there

Should be straight forward oil filter relocation, 4.0 rubber mounts. 4.0 rad the computer and wiring side will be a lil different than a foxbody computer the sn95 mustangs had data logging. If 4x4 use a 4.2 v6 M5OD-R2 and np205.

But if you have a diesel they are kinda rare as it is might wanna consider a 4bt as an upgrade.

I recommend you don’t use the advance adapter headers. They’re junk. I used a F-150 radiator for my swap. I cut the center of the core support out and recessed the radiator into it. That gave me 4” more room. It’s a tight fit getting the rad in though. I cut the engine crossmember out then rebuilt it so I could set the engine 2” lower. I straight axled my truck though, if you’re keeping the TTB you won’t be able to do that.

I used 66 full size Ford 289 exhaust manifolds on the 351 in my Ranger, I suspect 289 hipo manifolds would have fit, too, and would flow better. My friend used the Advance Adapters headers and they look like crap. I hollowed out my core support and used a Griffin radiator to get room enough for a fan using Fox body pulleys. I found out afterwards that T bird or Explorer front drive systems are shorter. Look around here, someone has done whatever you're planning. Diesel Rangers were rare because few people bought them, we never sold one but a couple came in our shop. Rare doesn't mean good or valuable, it means there aren't many. I'm not a "rare" or "matching numbers" guy, I want things to work right, original be damned.
