Just wanted to introduce myself. I am a Garage owner in Horneytown North Carolina, yep real town. Anyway, I just recently acquired a 1997 Ford Ranger Regular Cab XLT that has a 2.3 Liter with a 5 Speed transmission. I bought it for my son who just turned 15. I have been working on this truck for my customer for the past 140K miles. It now has 187K miles on it.
It came into my shop down on power, after doing some searching I found out it had a blown head gasket between cylinder 2 and 3. My customer did not want to put the amount of cash into it that it would take to get it running good again, so I offered him $200 cash for it, he agreed. So I pulled the head off of it and took the head to the machine shop, found out it had a few cracks in it. So I ordered a new head and head gasket kit with new head bolts for it. I also put new plugs in it, new plug wires, new water pump, new timing belt, and a new fuel filter. So for less than $700 bucks I now have him a vehicle to drive. Still working on him being able to drive a strait drive well, it's going to take some time, but we are getting there.
I also own a 2000 Ford Explorer Eddie Bauer 4.0 Liter AWD. I bought it for $1000 cash knowing that it would need new timing chains. I pulled the engine and installed all 3 timing chains on it, been driving it for 2.5 years now, without any trouble. Anyway, take care and I look forward with chatting with y'all.
