Hey everyone my name is Dusty and I own a 1987 Ford Ranger XLT that was given to me by my grand father when I was 15. He bought the truck brand new in 87 and actually ordered it from ford. It is an extended cab andhas the XLT package with the 2.9 V6, manual 5spd tranny, 4x4 with manual locking hubs, all power and has the two gas tank option.

Because this truck has been in the family since it was new I would like to redo it and have it looking nice again. I was a young and dumb teen that didn't take care of it and now paying the price to fix it.

I would like to rebuild the motor cause it has about 137,000 miles on it and has been overheating lately. I believe I have a cracked head because I have changed everything in the cooling system minus the head gaskets that were replaced a few years ago and the radiator. I would also like to put a 4" lift so I could fit 31's on it.

No pics for now because I am currently in Afghanistan.

Welcome aboard! Sounds like a good truck with a lot of history.

Thanks for your service to btw!

Thanks how do you like your body lift on your truck? What kind of gas mileage are you seing with it? What all motor work do you have done to it?

Its great. Wasn't too much of a hassle and my old bushings were bad so..I just did both.

Mileage wasn't effected at all with the lift. With my tires, Auto and 3.73's I get about 18-19mpg. That's mainly all highway. A good 70 percent of my commute is highway.

Motor is all stock except for the exhaust if you want to count that. Stock piping with a Magnaflow welded in place.
