Hello everyone, I am Deadkid9110.
I'm 18 years old, and I currently reside in South Dakota.

I came in contact with this website by looking for information regarding my Ford Ranger on Google. I've been browsing these Forums for some time now, and I thought that I could benefit from advice of the people here. I can also try helping others with their problems, so it's a win-win both ways.

I own a 1986 Ford Ranger 4x4. It has a 2.3l Inline-4 Engine in it, 5 speed manual transmission (Nerve racking, I've never owned a Manual!), 4x4 with Manual lockouts.

I have not drove the truck before. I know, I own it and have never drove it, What's wrong with me right? Well, the owner was a Chevrolet fan. He hated Ford with a passion. He inherited the truck from his Father who passed away. He sold me the truck for $400, which I immediately took interest in because my personal opinion is Ford > Chevrolet. He lost the title, and is in the process of getting one for me, that's why I have not drove it yet.

So then what am I doing with it? Well I mentioned I was in High School (a Senior); the Ranger is sitting in the Auto Lab, I work on it at school for Auto class. When I got the Ranger, the brakes basically did not exist. I just happened to be in Brakes Class so that was a perfect opportunity for me to work on it and learn how everything works at the same time. I'm fixing the brakes and some other things, while I await the title.

Well, that's a little bit about me. I'll go into more detail about the pickup on other threads in the future, but for now that's me in a nutshell.

Thanks for Reading.

Welcome to TRS~!

That truck is actually very rare...they don't make the 4x4 with the 2.3 engine any more and they're hard to get...I'd like one myself...but it would have to be green...lol...but definitely extended cab for me...even though I'd gladly swap out my drive train for yours any day...

So, keep plugging away at it and hang onto it if you can...if you want to sell it...I'm sure you'd find a buyer PDQ...(that's pretty darned quick in Canadianese)...

Thank you for the welcome.

I did not know that 4x4 2.3l was Rare, I figured the common engine for the Ranger was the 2.3l, and 4x4 was just another option. Thanks for the information! I'll definitely keep it in mind while I repair my ranger. :D

Yep rare indeed, hold on to that factory brush guard those are even more rare, exspecially with the headlight bars. I had a 2.3 4x4 5speed. I loved it. But I would recommened going with a bigger motor if you plan on making the truck bigger. I had 3 inch lift with 32x11.50, brush guard and a roll bar with KC daylighters, it was like driving a wall down the road got between 9-12 mpg depending on the wind. Welcome to the forums BTW, lots of good people and info.:icon_thumby:

I don't know if it's factory or not. The Brush Guard is welded onto the Bumper (the guy I bought it from is a Welder, so I think he may have done that), and the two lights are broken. I'll be replacing them after I replace the broken out back window, behind the passenger seat.

It looks like the factory one that ford offered to me, I had the center grill guard on mine.

I don't think it's factory. I can see yours is bolted on, and like I said; mine is welded to the front bumper.
