new fuel economy standards

11 mpg from the 6.4? I've never been in a 6.4 but that's awful. My buddys 04 Ram 2500 4x4 with the 5.9 get's 18. I've done it myself...

So vehicles will have to change more in the future. Hybrids are only a band-aid. Electric vehicles do have their pro's, but some short comings as well. A diesel engine will probably be the best thing as a Golf TDI with its 1.9 turbo engine that produces about 100hp & 190ft-lbs of torque. Got a respectably 35~48mpg.

A little something I found on Youtube.com last night.

I was watching tv earlier and a Volkswagen commercial came on, claiming the Jetta TDI would get 58 mpg. They've been doing that for years in Europe...

I just had to leave GM's new hybrid training. Lol yes the hybrids for right now a band aid, until the battery tech gets better for the hydrogen cell vehicles. When we reach the point of mainly electric/ fuel cell, an internal combustion engine will still be there for a back up generator for a while. Yes all the 6.4's I run across get right at 11 mpg, my and 3 of my firned keep track of the and avg all the mileages together as a pet project. I did not want the biggest baddest truck. I got mine as a repo for 6K payoff....hehe..and if I had the time wopuld make my own bio fuel from the cooking oil from the coastal resturants down here. So I could go :thefinger: to the oil companies. Forgot to mention, the diesel fuel down here is very crappy i think it's close to only 40 cetane and you can't tell the rednecks they need fuel additives "that's junk in a bottle", is the most common response, and most think "diesel" = 15K oil change intervals that own thier own trucks, and the city trucks are beat to death and all diesels around here are very overloaded. Heck one got pulled over the ther day pulling 23K... need I say more
