New from VA

Greetings all,

The first vehicle I owned was a 89 Ranger 4cyl 5 speed. 85 hp on a good day. Loved that little thing. I've always wanted to get another one and well I finally did it. I came across a 1986 Ranger STX. V6 auto. Got it for cheap sitting in the back of an old mechanics shop. It's no running but no worries, she's getting a power plant upgrade... just not sure what transmission to use. Definitely plan on manual. TKO? Thoughts?

i would go with putting in a automatic transmission personaly

The 2.9 and the 4.0 share the same bell housing pattern. Using a m5od gets you a manual and a 10" clutch. I don't know the tko so can't comment.

Thanks for the info. After a weekend of messing around under the hood and cleaning the crap out of it. Come to. Find out she does run. Not well considering it's the first time in who knows how long since that motor moved. Every thing works. I'm extremely impressed.
