Hey guys im new here, just wanted to say hi hows it going.

I drive a 96 4 cyl s wheel drive ranger, I have future intentions of powering it by a vw diesel or a cummins 4 cyl diesel, im open to suggestions if any of yous have some.

Welcome to the Station Geoff! Glad to have you with us. Let's get some pics of your '96. As for a diesel, go for the Cummins 4BT. It's a very stout and powerful model and it's definately easier to swap into the Ranger. The VW diesels are more computer controlled and would require more computer configuration. The 4BT is much easier to configure to work into the Ranger. Good luck!

Welcome to TRS Geoffrey...

I'm sure you will get many suggestions on this...including just turbo the engine you have...after rebuilding it a bit, of course...

But if you want the most out of your gas dollar (diesel buck) you might want to swap in something more economical...not sure what the diesels get for fuel consumption, but I'd imaging humping the turbo would just about negate any savings...

I think I'm gonna go with the 4bt cummins and an nv4500 tranny, the vw motors are made for a front wheel drive tranny and I would have no idea where to get a tranny to mate with that.

I'm glad to see the suggestions though.
