New Ford Police Interceptor

Never said it was weak, just that I prefer BOF, that's all. Also, Ive seen crashes where unibody vehicles twisted like pretzels with the driver being crushed to bits, so like a cage.....no.

Properly made ones, yes. Not saying the ARE a cage in the Nascar sense you are thinking.

Actually, it's fine for both. It's still a frame but I noticed many here don't understand it and seem afraid of it.
I understand it perfectly. I'd much rather heavily load a BOF than a unibody truck.

There's a reason second-division vehicles are made on a BOF platform. Strength.

If done right, on a CAR unibody is ok. But the only unibody cars I'd ever drive are merc. or BMW. Hyundai's look like they were welded together by asian retards......oh wait!:icon_rofl:

Look at pics. of crown vics. that have in side impacts, Jason. The frame rail stops the offending car dead almost every time. Also, unibody can, in face, be weak. Also, If you try to tow anything heavy with a unibody vehicle within a few years the doors won't close properly and the vehicle will drive real funny.

I wish someone would have told my Dad about that before he towed a 4k pound boat for 13 trouble free years with his XJ.

Heres a good example of the crown vic.'s durability. Imagine walking away from this in a Hyundai.....

Would have been even more survivable in a unibody Ford Five Hundred!

Notice that I chose cars of the same year from the same manufacturer at the closet possible dimensions. Not even comparing them to companies that may be much more skilled at the unibody game. Now the Toyota Avalon is also unibody and in the similar class and it's side impact numbers are even better than the two Fords.

Point is. Nothing wrong with unibody. Even if someone told you that they distort from towing. They still have subframes that carry the load of towing and/or driveline that serve the purpose in the vehicles they are built for. Notice no one builds unibody for HD use. That isn't the purpose. However the normal use of towing a boat or things that a Ranger was also intended to do, a unibody that's built right, is more than adequate.

Werent Xj's built kind of like Aerostars and land rover LR3's with both a ladder frame and unit body construction? Correct me If i'm wrong, but I could swear my old XJ had frame rails. Also, I was talking about unibody cars like the toyota camry towing. My buddy used to tow 4,500 pounds weekend after weekend with his and after 2 years that car was f***ed up real bad.

Also, did your dad have the aisin-warner aw4 auto? That thing was my worst enemy in my XJ.

His was a 5 speed. The XJ KINDA had rails. They were there more as lift points. There was no ladder frame that I ever saw. I owned a few of them myself all from the late 90's.

Must've remembered wrong about the XJ. Mine was a 95 and I sold it in 2004.I know they were rated to tow 5k, and It's the only unibody vehicle I ever owned. Also, me talking about unibody vehicles distorting after towing was based on fact, as it happened to that camry. Also, And this may end up being quoted by others, It is my belief that the best place for a Honda Ridgeline is holding a yacht still at the bottom of the ocean filled with gays and liberals.

that is a perfect example of using a vehicle beyond it's purpose. A Camry is not a tow vehicle intended for regular use.

As far as the Ridgeline comment, you don't have to like the truck (Even though it is good for it's intended audience) but your homophobic comment was uncalled for and frankly ignorant.

Who will win in a race????
