New Filter?

I had a transmission flush done over a month ago because I noticed some hard/late shifting. After the flush the shifting was normal for a couple weeks, then the same shifting patterns as before the flush started occurring again:annoyed:. I checked the trans fluid level and it was fine. I am wondering if the filter is gummed up and will not let the fluid flow as it should?

Is your o/d off light on or flashing? It sounds like a pressure problem in the valve body. The 4r44e in the 4 cyl and 3.0 has a problem with a gasket in it's valve body that causes your problems. If the filter was gummed up it would slip, because there wouldn't be enough line pressure to keep the band/ clutch applied firmly.

the OD light isn't flashing, and I have a 5R55E but I have heard similar things about the valve body problems etc... Do you think it would be a good idea to replace the filter and see if it has any effect?

I doubt replacing the filter will hurt anything so give it a try. Buy the felpro trans pan gasket and torque it properly so it doesn't leak when you are done. The bolts are around 130 in/lbs and you go from the center out in a crisscross cross.

Alright thanks for the info. I was researching the symptoms of a bad valve body gasket and they are more serious than the ones that I am experiencing, but I will be aware in the future. My ranger only has 41,220 miles on it so I don't think it could be a bad valve body gasket just yet. Thanks again.
