I want to get a new muffler for my 2009 Ford Ranger to beef up the sound and make my truck sound more aggressive. It's got the 4.0L V6 motor, manual transmission in it. Not a lot of experience as far as exhaust goes, I've been told by a lot of friends to go with Flowmaster, and I've been looking online at some of the mufflers (not sure whether getting the full exhaust system is a better idea, but cash is tight), just wondering from experience what the best choice would be? Also wondering whether dual/single exhaust is better? Thanks guys

I personally would SI/DO a flowmaster super 44. Thats what I did and my truck sounds pretty sweet. But Id say your best bet is to go to youtube and look for sound clips of other 4.0 engines and decide from there what ya want.

if your just doing the muffler check out the cherry bomb muffler better sound and flow than my dynomax super turbo muffler. Only thing is more flow could cause you to lose some torque but gain some top end horsepower. The dynomax super turbo cat back is cheap as dirt I got mine for around 75 bucks and spent 30 for an intermediate pipe at napa. I got a really good special when I bought mine. I would say look up the cherry bomb muffler and find some sound clips and then check out some of the competitors.

oh and for the most part on a brand new truck just getting a better flowing muffler and a nice air filter will give you the performance upgrade your looking for. expect to spend 40 to 80 bucks without having to do any extensive work

Go with a flowmasters series muffler and increase the diameter to 2.5 or 3 inch from the cats back. This will give you a very deep sound you will definitely like. On my 2006 4L it is fairly loud when giving lots of throttle but when your just cruising its fairly soft. Also, get an intake from K&N. You will like the performance gains you get, plus better mileage. I get 22 mpg on the highway. I just got a new computer so i dont have any pictures on here but i can get them for you if you would like to see it.
