new deck

got a new pioneer deck yesterday. Was wondering if i would need a dash kit in order to hold the new deck in. i looked at wal mart last night and they did have one but it was only for 83-88 and mine is an 89. i have to wiring harness already so dont need to worry about that. let me know asap. thanks

if you have to pull the dash like i do on my '83, then i'd look inside there first to see what is needed to lock it down tight. otherwise, i'd slide it in and see if it moves around at all or not. if it feel firm, try it out a few days. if it doesn't then you might need the dash kit. it didn't come with a dash kit already? most are just cage thing with tabs you fold out to hold it in place.

2nd gens dont need dash kits, the cage just slides in the stock opening and then you just bend some tabs down to lock it in place..
