New deck and speakers?

Ok, so I have two new alpine type S 5x7s in the back (extended cab).
Also I have a 10 inch JL sub and mono amp for it as well.
What I need to do is find a new deck because mine is too basic. Also, two speakers for the front and possibly an amp for the four speakers as well but I think I can get one from my brother.
So, I was wondering what deck I should get: brand, features that it should have (like sub control) , audio input for I-pod, and what would be good for hooking two amps up too as well because I know on some you can't.
As for the speakers, any ideas for the front ones, can I easily upgrade to 6x9s or is it not worth it and should i get the independent? tweeters, again not sure how hard to install. Any advice would be cool.

go back into this forum, and click on a thread called "my set up" and check out the deck i have. its a pioneer and i got it from walmart for like $150 it has the ipod hook up up front, and i know you can get an adapter ($5 at walmart) that plugs in the back and some how (i havent figured it out yet) but you can control your ipod from the deck settings it has a lot of sound settings and sub on/off. as for speakers, the polk audio ones that i have http://www.polkaudio.com/caraudio/products/speakers/5x7/db570/ i absolutly love. they would work good for you since you have a sub too.

unless you plan on a SERIOUS system in the truck then a amp for your 4 speakers is not nescisary, the head unit makes more then enouhg power in most cases to balance with the subs. id get a newer alpine head unit, absolutly awesome units, do everything u could ever want

as far as headunits, most of the big names(pioneer, eclipse, alpine, etc) will have a nice headunit for around $150. you can run the front/rear speakers off the headunit. as long as you set the gain properly on the sub amp, you shouldnt notice the sub bass(100-80hz or lower) overpowering your mids/highs.

if your looking for a system that gets loud with no audible distortion and a great soundstage id suggest running components. you can mount the tweeters up higher, which brings the soundstage closer to your ears. theres alot you can do with your system. it all comes down to budget and preference.

alright, thanks guys. so the amp is not needed since I'm getting a good quality deck, but like i said, it's probably free or very cheap. the components make a difference but aren't a must. The budget is $300-$400 just for a deck and speakers too. What I want out of it is something that can be loud and clear with no distortion (mids and highs) and then have the sub just do it's job. Right now it distorts when it's not even "cool" loud, haha, and the speakers rattle too. Anything to do to fix that, dampening i think? If it makes a difference, I listen to all music, not just rap with a lot of bass or anything.

when considering whether to amp your front/rear speakers, you have to remember that the headunits amp really only puts out 15-17w. an amp that puts out 40w or more per channel with low distortion will make a dramatic difference. so if you can get a quality one for next to nothing i say go for it. just remember to factor in the cost of the amp kit.

id throw those alpine 5x7s in the front doors and leave the rear fill empty. then youd have 300-400 to spend on a headunit($150), 2 channel amp($100), amp kit($50).

as far as your speakers rattling, they may not be mounted properly. go to the hardware store and pick up some weatherstripping. get the 3/8" one with the self adhesive backing. put a layer of that stuff around the mounting basket of the speaker.

Alright, so if i get an amp for the four speakers, or two, do i have to get a new amp kit or can i just split the one i already have? Also, just putting the stripping on the outside after mounted works well? guess i'll do that. thanks for the help so far. guess i'll find a deal and get a deck soon.

i forgot that you already had an amp. in that case, id just put those alpine 5x7 in the front doors. then turn the balance/fader to the front. if you dont like the sound you could always buy another set for the rear. if its not loud enough for you, then look into getting 1-3ft 0/1 power wire, fused distrobution block, fuses, 10-15ft of 8g power wire, 1-2ft of 8g ground wire and all the terminals you would need. those parts in addition with your amp kit will make a dual amp kit. just make sure you get some nice power wire.

as far as that weather stripping goes, it goes on the backside of the speaker mounting flange. it acts like a gasket.

So I did a little research, and from what's on sale and near me, these are my options. In your guys opinion, which of these decks would work....?

the CDA-9884, CDA-9883, and CDE-9874

the DEH-P5000UB, DEH-P4000UB and DEH-P3000IB

...With these four speakers, yes they're different sets. Also, does it matter which two go in the back?

Haha, I'm sure these are probably stupid questions but I don't know a lot and want to get it right.

imo, amp all the speakers. most decks only put out around 45 watts. with an amp you will get a much better sound. and to do a multiple amp set up i would go with at least 4awg power and ground wire, you will also need a power fused distribution block and a ground distribution block and make sure your deck has 3 sets of rca's (front, rear and sub).
i hope this helps you lemme know if you need any installation help or any other advice

id pick a deck with a good high prevolt voltage.. like 4v an up.. most of the alpine decks are nice but only have a 2 v preout.. again id amp all your speakers a 2 channel or 4 channel amp will work wonders. the speakers sound so much more alive while their amped because their getting more power they sound crisper an aren't as muddy. id use 4 awg if you dont plan on thing over 1000 watts.. ive got 2 amps in my truck 1800 watts an ive got 0awg going to them.. i just started building my other system an bought some 2 awg power wire.. built some fiberglass kick panels for the components.. components an separate tweeters make a HUGE difference.
