1996 Ranger - Cylinder key lock in the steering column is worn and loose. The old one came out easily using a punch to push up on a pin though a hole the bottom of the steering column.
The new one inserted easily but will not rotate past the 'On' position to the 'Start' position. I took the first new cylinder key lock back to Oreilly Auto Parts and purchased another one at Autozone. It has the same problem, it will not rotate to the start position. Again, put the old cylinder key lock back and it works.
What is the problem?
