The cap and rotary button were shot so i replaced them i put the spark plug wires on in the correct order.. now it just try's to backfire and wont start it was just timed b4 the new parts. Is it possible to time a truck with the plug wires crossed and when they are put on right cause the timing to be so off it wont run?

If it was running before you changed the cap and rotor then maybe you got a bad part.

Take it back off and make sure everything looks ok.

you probably put the wires on one post off on the cap, been there

remove the cap and #1 cylinder plug, bump the motor over and get it to TDC compression, verify that the rotor is pointing at #1 on the cap, if it doesn't your timing is wrong, if it does, your firing order is wrong.

Fixed it! The idiots the put new lifters in it had the distributor was about 6 or7 teeth off and just moved the plug wireds around.
