My new bumper plans! Not gonna build it yet, but this is what I'm going to build later on. I'm stuck on one thing. how thick should I go on plate metal for the bumper??? I am thinking about using 1/8 inch for the front and the sides and 3/16 inch on top and bottom. what do you think???

custom fabrication 4x4 makes some great bumpers! Too bad they can't make any for my year of truck I have, but I'm sure they could build one for your 98 though. Also check out fearce offroad bumpers! They have some good ones too!

Also check RLC welding. They make all sorts of bumpers

I'd just do all 3/16" unless you're wanting to a winch... Then use 1/4" on the winch plate part.

that thing is gonna be heavy as hell

i used 3/16" on mine

Hell mine is all 1/4" since I couldn't get 3/16". I can pick it up. It's heavy but not just stupid ridiculous

badass bumper Eddie! im gonna copy that! ive been staring at mine for the last 2 hours trying to figure out how I want to build a bumper. I just put a 90 front clip on my 84 today. NOT a bolt on swap!

yeah i was joking, you're on the other side of the country lol. it would cost more to ship than what i would want for it.

B/c it shouldn't happen! :D:icon_rofl::annoyed: ruining the 1st gen like that... what were you thinking?! :thefinger::icon_rofl:

I am thinking about just using 1/4 inch on the front plate because I am going to weld brackets to the back of it and it'll support more better. The rest of it is gonna be 3/16.

the old fenders were trashed, and wanted something different. around here you rarely see a 2nd gen B II. kinda like the back window that opens. found one of those at a local jy, just haven't got it yet
