Here is the specs and a few qustions.

85 broncoII-base truck
explore axles?? how would i fit them in my bronco?
mach 1 mustang base engin w/ mild cam alum intake and a 650 4bbl
chop top
liftin(best way?)
tires prolly 33's
any info or anything will be helpfull..
thanks Jarfly!

the front ex axle bolts right in, as does the rear, if you buy a flip kit($50 from summit) if you are going to go this all-out on everything else you might as well just SAS for your lift.

I am jus goin to use the ex axles for a little wile(were i can wheel a little bit) as I all ready have the axles and my bronco does not have any..

Bout the ex leafs?

So where do the shocks go? (ex axle has no shock mounts, they're on the leafspring plates). :icon_twisted:

Also, the pinion flange is bigger, requiring driveshaft modification or (much preferred) a driveshaft swap.

The Ex leafs do bolt up though, after simply swapping the centering pins on the leafs over.

.

I would do as much reading as you can about what you want to do. There is a bunch of info here about putting Explorer axles in the other RBVs.
The Ex axles are quite sturdy, I doubt you'd have any issues with them unless you like to play stupid on the gas pedal (in which case you might think about going to 1-tons).

There's a post at the top of the RBV Axles section with links to various axle upgrades you can do as well. :icon_thumby:

Doesnt 4WheelParts sell weld on shock mounts? Just a thought. I'm in the same situation with my waggy 44. I'm not planning on using the same plates and the shocks and sway bar mount to.

I'm planning on going that route unless some one convinces me otherwise.

Good luck Jarfly

thanks..

Yea I have been reading my brains out(I think the most reading I have done in forever)
What is you guys favs? rangers or broncoII's I have boath and cant decide what to do?

Would the ex axles hold a 33 inch buckshot good?
I am very easy on the gas..
Also on engins?? what should i do? stock 6cly or go ahead and do a 302 swa
p

I run the stock 2.9 with 35" tires on mine, and it's plenty adequate. You just have to make sure to gear your axles correctly for your tire size, otherwise the V6 power tends to "disappear" pretty quick (I run 5.13 gears).
If you're thinking of doing a lot of mud-bogging (or sand dunes) though, then a V8 might be a better motor for such use.

The HP D35 front is good for up to 35" tires no problem (37s if you play nice), the 8.8" rear, 37-39" tires (33s? pfft. what's to worry about?)

As for BII vs. Ranger, you'll probably have to decide yourself on that.

I have both also. The shorter BII is more maneuverable on the trail than the Ranger, but the Ranger is the superior hillclimber (and can haul more stuff, whereas the BII can haul more people). The Ranger is not as good going DOWNhill however (probably due to it being more nose-heavy than the BII).

Looks like its an ranger..(the bII i was looking at has been wrecked but still might buy it to make a long term project out of)

I was thinking bout an full size bronco axles? there ttb how would a guy go about doin that?

But ex axles will go in first im goin to be runing a set of all most wore out 315s(i think that is the size) on some stock 01 ranger rims.
