Hi Guys,
I am planning a V8 conversion on my 1991 Ranger XLT over the Christmas Holidays. I've read as much as I can about the V8 swap and bought a Trans-Dapt swap kit. I've also got in contact locally with someone who has actually done a couple of swaps in both the Ranger and Mustang andhas offered his assistance.
The help on the TRS website is priceless. I'm sure there will be a snag or ten that I will need help with during my project. I have a project booklet written by Mark Reams, owner of MRE, entitled "Ranger and Bronco II V8 Conversion". It covers 1983-1996 models, as it was written in 1998. It seems that alot of what is covered in this booklet has already made it to the tech library, but, if needed, when I finish my swap, I'll be more than happy to make copies of the booklet and mail them out to anyone who might need a copy.
Ok.. what I'm working with,like I said earlier, is a 91 Ranger. It has 160,000 miles on the 4 banger. The truck is solid, looks good, but is in dire need of a heart transplant. I'm goin with a carbed 302 H.O./T-5 setup from a 1985 Mustang GT donor. I rebuilt the engine in late summer and decided to go ahead and give my li'l truck a set of balls.
