I had the ball joints replaced on my truck two months ago and the one upper ball joint boot seems to have come loose on the bottom and is leaking grease. Is this a issue or normal?

It was probably over-greased at install. Happens all the time, especially if the joint was greased at all before the knuckle was put on.

IMO too much grease is better than not enough.

yeah that makes sense, the boot isn't torn at all.

Yeah, most joints will leak at the base when over-greased but the Moog ones with the ring around the base leak at the stud.

that's because there isn't a tight seal at the stud end. the boot stays stationary as the knuckle rotates against it.
smear the excess grease on the bolt & nut to slow rust..

Is that a Torsion bar front end? I was looking for upper arms with replaceable ball joints but gave up and got the all-in-one. That being said, I have a coil springs up front.

the coil spring versions of the upper control arms do not have replaceable ball joints.
FYI, the torsion bar versions do not interchange with the coil versions, the ball studs are different sizes.

It's coil spring. I wonder what the ride quality is like with torsion vs coil? I feel like coil spring would be more rugged and durable.

coils are standard suspension, torsion bars are heavy duty suspension.
I have 1 of each, for ride quality the weight of the wheel and tire type seems to make the most difference.

So bit of a update, noticed the other day both ball joint boots are torn in the middle. Not sure what to do as it's been about two years. The part maybe under warranty but the labor is not. I trust the shop I go to which is why i'm suprised it's failed so early. Is it worth replacing or do i just keep greasing it and hope it lasts awhile.

Got a photo of it, they replaced the control arm when they did the ball joint so I'm guessing replacing the ball joint will be easier second time around since it's aftermarket? I don't have the money to pay for the shop to do it again so gonna have to do it myself.
