NEW 2009 SRT8 Challenger sells for $29.1K and Dealership Wont Honor Sale

I couldn't get past page two, without being overwhelmed by Piece-of-shit Chrysler products... notice all the pictures the fanboys display, yet the sponsor at the lower left of the site is selling Fords....

It's irritating to see a Challenger site with at LEAST 10-20 images of Dodge products(mostly Challengers with fake hemis) perfect example of "way too many pictures, not enough content" makes sense it's associated with Chrysler corp.

I think they are trying to make up for what they are "lacking". Old school MOPAR is one thing but this new shit is ratarded. 440 w/ 6 pack and shaker hood FTW.

Dang that sucks... if that happened to me I would be beyond pissed.

Another thing I think is funny is on ebay sometimes at the buy now or bid on it auctions the auctionn price exceeds the buy now price. lol

People get stupid sometimes with auctions. I've been to several where people will get into a bidding frenzy and rapidly drive the price for a used item up over the cost of a new one at the local store by far. And then walk away all giddy that they got such a "really great deal!" Seriously...

But I guess that's the sort of reaction that auctioneers hope for....

I read about this. I think its crap that they wont honor the sale. Apparently this is story is really getting around. Last I heard it had been linked on over 100 forums.

Well thats what they are talking about on that one... get it around that this dealer doesn't want to honor the sale in hopes it will scare the dealer into going through with it to avoid the bad rep.

I dunno about Cali, but if that happened in PA, he would be getting that car.

Can the dealership sell the car to someone else while it is tied up in this mess? They have it listed on Autotrader for $45k. If the buyer has not gotten a lawyer, not sure what he is waiting for. Hope he has his financing for the car in line as well. If he expects the dealership to offer the financing, that is their window to get out of the sale.

I read through about 10 pages of it. The $500 dollar deposit was accepted by the dealer according to PayPal's record, so legally they did accept the transaction and sale of the car per the legal terms of the eBay contract. That VIN was listed in the eBay add so it is part of the deal. Under PA law if they sell that car to someone else and it's later decided that the car had legally should have been sold and titled to him, then they could be required to provide him with a vehicle of equal value that is materially the same (engine, options, etc but maybe a different color). I'm not sure how similar CA law is, but that's where this is going on.

I wouldn't have ANY Chrysler product, regardless of the 'cool' factor.

If a winning bid is considered a binding contract on the buyer, why should it be different for a seller?

By law they have to sell it to him unless they want a lawsuit for false advertisement and other legal actions brought against them!!!

Get the news involved and make an example out of them. Write letters to your higher ups and so. THIS SHALL NOT STAND!

Acceptance

In order for an acceptance of an offer to be valid, the acceptance must be made while the offer is still open. In some situations, the person making the offer gives a definite time frame so the offer ends when the time has elapsed: "I will sell you my car for $200 but you must decide whether to buy it within two days." Other ways an offer may end include: the person making the offer withdraws the offer, the person who receives the offer rejects it, a reasonable amount of time passes after the offer is made, or the subject matter of the offer is destroyed before acceptance.

If a person changes the conditions of the offer in responding, the offer is rejected and a counteroffer is made as in "I will buy your car, but I will pay only $150 for it." In this scenario, the person who made the original offer responds to the new offer by accepting it, rejecting it, or proposing yet another offer.

There are two ways a person accepts an offer: by promising to do or not do something, or by performing the desired act. In the first type, a person responds to an offer to sell a car for $150 by promising to pay $150 for the car. This is called a bilateral contract. In the second type of acceptance, a homeowner offers a neighbor $10 to cut his or her grass and the neighbor responds by cutting the grass; the neighbor accepts the offer simply by performing the act requested. This is called a unilateral contract.
