new 2 me 83 ranger

i just bought a 83 ranger today. 4 cly auto trans pretty darn good looking truck. i will get some pic's later if it ever stops raining. factory am-fm cassette only one dash speaker. what i was surprised to see on the truck dual gas tanks ! only the front gauge works switch to rear tank still shows what front tank reads. has the wheel trim still on it . haven't looked to see why the A/C clutch don't work that would be nice to have in arkansas. as far as rust goes a few nail head size pin holes paint still shines. going to take some time getting used to no power going up and down the ozark hills. my f150 4.9 had no problems with them.

some pic's noticed it has what looks like a factory trans cooler also. the fiberglass cap needs a real good cleaning. the truck can use a wash job think i will wax it to. she should clean up good. found out there is no jack or jack crank or lug wrench will see if i can find a bone yard for them.
interesting on door tag is says mfg date 02-82 ? this one of the 1982 rangers that don't exist ? vin says it's a 83 title says it's a 83 seemed odd to have a 82 date on door tag.

The Ranger was introduced in 82 as the 83 ranger,so you have one of the earliest rangers.

thanks that's some cool info. like this 4 banger no TFI no feed back carb like i had on my 85 BII 2.8 still cuss that thing out and i sold it 3 years ago. my 86 mustang 2.3 had it also. think this one has the dura spark II ? need to do a timing belt idler change on this some time soon belts showing some light cracks. might as well change the idler as long as it is apart right ? i don't think it has a smog pump ether. it has the usual hair line crack on the exhaust manifold no big deal as long as it don't get any worse .

That is a cool lil ranger!! It has personality!! Looks like it has been taken pretty good care of. I actually like the cap on it, one of these days when I get money, I wanna find one for my 84 longbox.

if you were not so far away i might swap you the cap for a nice tool box for it. i'm not real crazy about the caps. as long as i don't need to look to the side rear blocks too much vision to me. but yes it looks good on it. the brown on the cap is just a bit darker than the brown on the truck. and that's ok with me

Wow! An 83! Holy cow. In the rust belt those trucks disappeared a long time ago. I've got one of the oldest ones I know of in my neck of the woods, but I can tell you it sure didn't look half as nice as yours when I got it. Congrats on a great find!

Is that a shortbed or a longbed?

My truck looks exactly like yours, except it is a shortbed, does not have duel fuel tanks, and it is painted red. Heck I got more rust than you do, not by much tho!
