Neutral safety switch?

I'm finishing up trying to get a BII going. Did an FM-146 swap. If I can crank it over then I have the right two wires wired together?

I can't seem to get the reverse lights working

There would be no NSS on a manual trans, there would be a switch on the clutch pedal, so clutch pedal must be down for starter motor to activate.
Some manuals did have neutral switch but I believe it was just for computer.

You may have high jacked the Reverse light switch.

reverse light switch should have Pink/orange stripe as the power IN wire and a Black/pink strip as the OUT to reverse lights.

I bypassed the neutral safety switch/clutch pedal switch. If I wire the red with blue stripe to the yellow wire I can turn the BII over. Otherwise I can't get it to crank.

On a manual that's the only safety switch, on the clutch pedal push rod.

Yes, this switch uses red/light blue stripe wire, but it should be red/light blue stripe all the way to the starter relay on the fender, don't see a yellow wire involved.

Ignition switch------(red/light blue stripe wire)----clutch switch-------(red/light blue stripe wire)--------Starter Relay


Only yellow wire I see near-by should have power all the time it connects to power side of ignition switch, comes from Fuse 1

I check '86, '87, '88 BII 2.9l wiring diagrams, they are all the same

You said you did an "FM-146" swap, that means you swapped a broken FM-146 for a working FM-146.
Or did you do an "A4LD to FM-146" swap?
Auto to manual, so I misunderstood

On the NSS switch you should have 5 wires, two are red/light blue stripe and one is Pink or white/pink, splice these 3 wires together, sometimes there are only 4 wires, if this is the case then red/light blue stripe to white/pink.

Two remaining wires are the reverse lights

The are are two switches on manual transmissions one is a reverse light switch

The other is to sense neutral for computer idle strategy.

IF you swapped a manual trans in for an automatic there was
a FACTORY INSTALLED JUMPER in the wiring harness under the dash that connected the wires that would normally be "Switched" by the clutch multifunction switch.

You don't need to jumper shit, because the factory dash harness is the same auto-to-manual within any given year.

I believe I have five. Red/lt blue stripe. Red/pink stripe. Yellow. Black/ wht stripe. Brown.

"On my truck it was Red/blue an yellow/orange that had to be jumped"

This was in reference to by-pass NSS for starter motor operation.

I can't see the yellow/orange on any diagrams for BroncoII NSS, but it must have been used

The under dash connection was completed using the factory harness. I'm trying to figure out the re-wiring of the canon plug that plugged into the auto trans.

If I wire both red together with the yellow it causes the 4x high and low range light to come on on the push button overhead.

That's the color code that is working for me.

I'm not getting the brake or reverse lights working. Checked fuses. They seem ok. Now I'm having fuel pressure issues to. Ugh! Started fine last night and now no fuel.

Where is the ground? It has tail lights with headlights on.

Then tail light assemblies should be Grounded OK.

You can test the brake light switch for power, one of the wires should be live(12volts) all the time, key on or off doesn't matter.

On the NSS connector only 1 wire should have 12volts when key is on, that's the power for the reverse lights.
No power there when key is off.

I know you have checked fuses but are you checking for power at the fuse or just looking at the fuse?
