Neutral safety switch question

I have an 03 ranger 3.0 auto that has been cutting out at exactly 3500 rpms and from what I have read on here it sounds like it is the neutral safety switch, has anyone had this problem? If so did replacing the switch fix it and how difficult was the switch to replace? Thanks in advance.
