Does anybody know if the movies available for instant viewing on the computer are the same as on a wii, xbox, etc?

Really want to get netflix for my dorm room this year, but trying to figure out if it would be worth the money or not. It's not expensive, but from what I've seen... the movies are few and far between that are good. Mostly older movies. Is there a way to see what TV shows are available on there? Hulu is way better for TV shows, but netflix is better (even though it's still not perfect) for movies. However, there is no way I'm getting both, even though I wish I could lol.

Anybody have any other experiences with any other similar companies? I'm interested in finding the best one

i have hulu plus and netflix both. as far as i know, the instant content on netflix is the same weather you stream on pc or a game console. i built myself a computer and hooked it directly to my tv (sitting on the couch right now with a wireless keyboard on my lap) and i use a program called boxee for most of my tv. once i set up my tv tuner on this computer i plan on cancelling both my subscriptions. netflix is set up to be a little more user friendly in my opinion versus hulu. i stream netflix on my wifi equipped blu-ray player in my bedroom but i cannot get hulu on the same machine. i do have problems with netflix from time to time though, every once in a while it tells me i cannot connect. nothing i can do but wait it out. btw, boxee is a free program that gets its streaming medai from multiple sources. you can download the software and put it onyour own computer, or you can buy a stand alone box for about $200 that comes with a remote. there are no subscriptions fees but some of the media it finds is a pay-per-view setup. i just stick to the free stuff though.

good plan. i havent had cable since i moved out of my mom's house in april. i miss the stuff on discovery mostly but there is a lot of stuff available online for free. i have noticed with boxee that lately anything on cbs.com isnt available. i think hulu's programing got removed from boxee a while back too. if you can set it up for free, give it a shot. you can even download an app for your smartphone to use it as a remote.

why can't you get both? so cheap.

Hulu doesn't have everything available on consoles, but you can access everything on the PC. There is a ton of content on the console anyways so it doesn't matter much

Netflix I've never run into a movie or show I couldn't watch on the XBOX or Wii, plus dvd's in the mail for the ones that can't be streamed

Also. Hulu has WRC lol

If you'd like, you could get them both for me. I just don't have the money to spend on both.

And Netflix now charges double if you want instant view movies and DVD's in the mail

i've been paying $10/month for each, but since you only want one... i'd have to recommend Hulu since you can watch current season.

Hulu really lacks a selection of movies at all though, unless you like ancient black and white movies.

SO if its movies you want then go with Netflix

as far as boxee goes, each title will have a dollar sign ($) next to it if its a pay per view. just fyi there is a hulu subscription called hulu plus. it is available on consoles and phones, and has a much better selection than the free hulu content. between boxee and the free online hulu, you will have a reasonable selection of shows.

edit: nevermind about the hulu, i misread a post i guess...

The availability all depends on the device. The Wii will not be able to play the movies and tv shows in anything above 480p resolution and 5.1 surround sound. The ps3 will be able to play full 1080p and 5.1. I am not quite sure about the xbox 360, my brother doesn't think the xbox will do both 1080p and 5.1 at the same time.

On a side note, if this is creepy you dont have to respond. But did you graduate from North High in the class of 2010?
