Ok , i have been having nothing but problems with my 00 Ranger , so here is what i need help with. I have the oppurtumity to get a new truck , not brand new , but it means i have to get rid of the ranger. The vehicles in question :

My Ranger:
2000
XLT
3.0
4x4
Auto
31's
Duals
Ext. Cab
Stepside
157k miles
just getting the second engine

The New Possibility :
1998
F-150
4.2
5-Speed
Floor Shift 4x4
Reg Cab
Short Box Reg Side
113k Miles
One Owner

so what do you guys think , seel the ranger and get the 150 , or keep the ranger

i voted for the f150 jus cuz its a manual and i like them betta

i vote for the ranger cause i cant imagine a v6 fullsize truck will perform as well as a v6 ranger. and the ranger has ex-cab so there is more room

take the ranger its already paid for and you know it so well any verhicle can have lots o problems so you have a fifty fifty chance maybe look into a different motor or machining aspects better performance good luck.

well i already have the new motor , it is almost in , but the v6 fullsize actually runs and handles beautifully , this is the second one we bought , it runsright down the road , no problems , and the ext is not good for mee , i never have room cause it is always full of stuff , i love my ranger , but it is just getting to be too much of a pita , but i have that problem with trucks i pick out , the one my stepdad picked out , no problems , the two i picked out , the 96 Ranger , paid 3000 , after a year and a half and 1200 in payments , i sold it for 2200 , which is 50 more than i owed on it , and the 00 isnt paid for yet , and my stepdad picked out the 150

plus the only thing with the ranger is that it is a 3.Slow

a friend of mine bought a truck that sounds identical to that one about a year ago and to be honest i love it. maybe its just me but that thing feels like it has serious balls for what it is. my vote's for the f150

the problem with that is , in ny , the vin number programmed into the pcm , has to match that of the vehicle it is in , which is checked when the scan your reggie , and the pcm vin is checked when they plug the inspection machine into your dlc

i vote ranger, because 4.2 f-150s are dogs (this coming from a fellow 3.0 owner).

if you never have any storage because your extended cab is always full of crap...how is a smaller standard cab going to help the problem?

the ranger has the potential to get better mileage.

the rangers paid for and you already have the engine.

that body style of f-150 is probably my least favorite. the front ends are weak and problematic, the cabs leak, the interiors tend to develop electrical gremlins.

well , i hate to disagree wicked , but i like that body style 150 , and the ranger does not get the best with the 31's , or maybe the dying motor was the cause , but the reg cab would help because , when i say full of shit in the back i mean i just throw stuff in the back seat , just garbage , but that 3.0 did good untill its catastrophic failure , i am just at an impass , i like both trucks , and i cant decide which to drive , i may clean up the ranger , get rid of the roll bar and most of the stickers , when i did that to the 96 i fell in love with it all over again , i figure i just get bored with having the same old truck everyday , i just need a little revitilization every once in a while

i alread have the engine , and i am about a half inch from it being hooked to the tranny

also the only thing that would sway me away from the f150 is that if i recall correctly my friends truck has a large fuel tank (32 gallon i think...) anyhow, it only gets about 15mpg on a good day.

yea , but that is what the epa says my truck gets , when i was runnin the 235's and a single straight pipe , on a trip to ohio , using cruise on the interstate i got 25 , on my way back from WV , with the new 31's and duals , i got 19 to 20
