why are there so many stepside rangers! I dont want one but every truck i find thats halfway decent is one, its ridiculous. Ill find a truck i like until i realize its a stepside. Its so frustrating!! Im too impatient for the whole truck shopping thing, i need a truck

I know what you mean.
When I was looking for a truck, all I could find were stepside Rangers. I just waited until I found something I liked.
I actually found my pickup on my birthday, and didn't even have to move any of the mirrors, I guess it was destiny, lol.

Karma is telling you something. Hell if you have a booty call for a fleet side so bad yet the good ones are step sides buy the step side and trade beds with someone.

I'm having a similar frustration but with transmissions. Every decent ranger that pops up around here is an auto, which I will never drive. I know I'll find a nice Ranger eventually, but I sure wish it'd happen sooner.

when i bought my first truck i had the exact opposite problem. every ranger i could find was a 5 speed. Ill probably get one one day but i want to learn how to drive a stick before i buy one.

Just trade beds. Alot of people want step sides. Step side will barely fit my four wheeler in it, so i'm not to crazy about them.

at the end of the day i want a truck to haul shit in. Never cared for the style side beds. My problem up here is i wanted a first or second gen there all so rusty there about half there original weight.

man, if i was you i'd jump all over that like flies on stink and get/trade another bed from an auto recycler. paint it if you have to. 4500 is a good price imo

Id like to look for one with fewer miles, but i dont think im gonna find one in my price range

oh and my other issue is number of doors. All the ones i find that I want are 2 door. I really want a 4 door.

I was in the exact same boat. Started looking for a truck in March 2009. Started just looking at just Rangers. When I got sick of everything good being a flareside, I opened my search to the S10, Sonoma and Isuzu Hombre (which are mostly regular beds).

I was buying the truck as a second vehicle, so I had room to wait for what I wanted. I was also willing, if necessary, to fly in, buy and drive back the truck if it was the right truck.

Then in Dec 2009, I found a truck locally that was pretty much everything I wanted; 4wd, auto, V6, ext cab, AC. Didn't necesarily want power windows/locks but glad now that I have them . Was even my first choice of color and trim (white XLT with chrome bumpers and grille). Was in my mileage range and priced right around trade in value. Was also very well maintained and documented. I had no choice but to jump on it. It was pretty much excactly what I wanted, all I needed to do was trade the camper shell for a hard toneau and add OEM fog lights.

You'll find your truck with patience. Maybe, while you look, you can also price used regular style beds in case you find a flareside that is otherwise too good to pass up.

meh, i dont personally like gold or tan interior, but if its your thing go for it. i hear you on the 4 door thing. mine is 2 door and i wish it was a 4 door. and that passenger door lookes dented to hell

eh it's easy enough to change a clutch, plus i;d rather burn my own out rather than some one elses :icon_thumby:

I was looking for a regular side ranger but I found my step side 99 and atfirst I kinda din't like it but then I realized it hauled pretty much everything I needed, just about anything I hauled in my fleet side long bed I can fit in my step side. I couldn't fit my 4 wheeler in the back of my fleet side bed anyways.. wouldn't make it over the wheel wells.
