I have a 97 ranger that i am looking for good off road tires for mud and sugar sand, but i dont have a lot of income any suggestions? whats the best way to go about looking for a set?

Check out either TireRack.com or 4Wheelonline.com . The latter is where I got my Mickey Thompson ATZ's for less then 900 shipped. Both sites have great selections for tires and wheels and have great pricing. :icon_thumby:

you got 4 tires for 900 dollars and you think that's a GOOD deal?

well, then you get to the part where there's no reason in hell to pay 900 dollars for tires for an RBV, it's either wiping your ass with money or an act of mechanical masturbation.

Mickey Thompson ATZ 33x12.50r15 is what I got and yes that is a great deal for those tires. I could have gone cheaper for another tire but I wanted the ATZ's. Previously I paid just under 800 for the Geolanders I had on my 97 Ranger that lasted about 3yrs and close to 55000 miles. Its one of those things I figure you get what you pay for.

oh i agree, i wish i had money to wipe my ass with

mechanical masturbation?..........sounds dry

You can purchase tires for way less then what I had paid for. I just feel that if you where to pay less for a new tire, then the tire may not last as long or perform as well. I give props to those who find tires on craigslist for dirt cheap. I'm constantly looking there for anything interesting but dont really have as much luck.

That's alright, he filters his motor oil thru a chamois and reuses it!

Wait, who does this?

As for tires, I like my Runway Enduro A/T's. They are hard to find, but get awesome traction and clean out really well. They're also $124 a pop usually.

I agree with the craigslist thing.

Why are you guys ripping on me I was just trying to help and was just saying what I paid for mine as an example. When you do buy tires new that are oversized they do tend to cost more.

i can still get 33 inch tires for less than 225 each, just sayin.

Right but there is a difference in getting a 33" round piece of rubber and getting good tires, in my experience working in a tire shop you really do get what you paid for. NOw i admit that some tires aren't worth as much as they cost but 800 - 900 is what I would expect to pay for a set of 33" tires. Maybe 600 - 800 for 31's and between 450 - 700 for stock sized tires.

I agree with this statement 100%. I spent a month researching tires and was going to buy some from treadwright.com until I found the Runway brand, checked 'em out, tried 'em out, and decided I really liked them - minus the road noise due to the evenly spaced lugs.

Kumho
Road Venture SAT KL61
cheap, agressive looking, super quiet & smooooth for an A/T tire.
