I have a 1994 ranger 2.3L 2wd and the throttle cable broke down at the peddle (a couple months after doing the throttle cable mod) and i need a new one i looked everywhere and cant find it i asked the ford dealership and they say they dont make them anymore and he told me to come to this site and ask cause you guys no your shit!
so is there one i can get from another vehicle? or an aftermarket one?
thanks

Not sure about the 94 length or connections...I just recently had one made to fit my 78 carburetor that was off a 90 something mustang engine...just had to move the ball connector up the shaft a bit and had it welded in place...

Pics if you've got them would help...probably a later model year would fit too...and they are still available from after market resellers...I just had one ordered in through Canadian tire for my 88 2.0...

They are available if you want to pay reseller prices (around $75)...mine cost me about $10 plus the trip to the junkyard...

i was checking in the hanes owners manual and it doesnt have that in there at all either so im not sure what the length is it looks to be around 3 feet

It is about 3' long, but what you have to watch for is where the ball connector is located. Most FI engines have the ball right at the end of the spring cable...most carbs have it about half way up the shaft.

For some reason, O'Reilly has one listed for a 97 with a 2.3 but not a 94. It is Pioneer Part# CA8439, and it's called an accelerator cable in their system.

I don't imagine it would be that much different.

ok. i checked canadian tire and they dont have it either so i guess its the auto wrecker ill have to check out

wouldnt a throttle cable from any 2.3L ranger thats fuel injected work for it? i dont see how they could be different. i was going to order one in from a newer ranger i was thinking it would be located in the same spot. or am i wrong?

They may work from other Ford engines...like the 3.0 or 4.0 even...but the problem is the length of the cable and the end connector location.

Are you in Canada? Ontario?

You can, in a pinch, use a bicycle brake cable...I've got one on my truck right now that has lasted about 8 months and holding up really well...check out my "Throttle cable mod" article in the Submit Articles for Tech Library thread above...it gives you the basic idea on how to use a bicycle brake cable to replace a broken one...

You will need to buy a clamp for the inside connection...one of those little clothes line clamps works great...
