Need some trans help

i have a 95 ranger 4x4 4.0 manual trans. the trans went out and i found a used one but it is out of a 97 ranger also a 4x4 4.0 wondering if the 97 will interchange with my 95? i could not find the numbers off my trans to try to match with the 97 trans does anyone know if they will interchange?

Look at where your VSS connects. As long as yours is in the transfer case, you should be good. See here: http://www.therangerstation.com/tech_library/speedometer.htm

Might also see if the slave is the same for those two model years. Otherwise, that 97 trans should bolt up and work fine!
