Seems every time I go out in the trails with my buddies, the wet stuff splashes up in my engine bay real good. Sometimes even good enough to get somethin ignition related wet causing misfiring (dries out everytime no prob). My engine bay is covered with a layer of nasty dried up dirty crap. I want to make some sort of splash guard for down there to help with that. I would be aiming for something that still gives oil filter access , or at least comes off easy for oil changes. Any ideas, past experiences, PICTURES :D , any help?

I don't have any pics but i used some rubber roofing and some small sheet metal screws. when i need to work on it i take the screws out with the cordless drill..

A large skid plate so it serves two purposes?

I'm thinking maybe I'll get a thin sheet of aluminum and install panels parallel to the ground in the bay above the exhaust manifolds (thinking about summer too) and then do the same coming out from a couple of the bumper mounts shield my belt/pulleys/etc.

I don't go off roading much...but my wires and carb are sensitive to moisture...so I bought some of that rubber mat stuff that you put on stairs (not the clear stuff) and cut it so that it hung down below the frame from the inner fender...

I also took two distributor boots from Ford Tempos and used them to cover my distributor and coil...I know you don't have such items, but if you have any exposed electrical boxes or connectors you might do something similar...like the coil packs...

I was surprised how much those boots helped my Tempo, but only after forgetting to put one back on after changing the distributor cap and rotor...would NOT start...

Enough irrelevance for one post though...
