so im going be replacing my 87 2.9 with a new engine here in the next month but i need to decide if i should just get a remanufactured long block or get a short block and put the world product heads on it. i have priced it out and they are about 100 bucks in difference more for the short and world heads. i need some more info on what might be the pros and cons of getting the world heads vs remanufactured?? thanks so much for any help

The world product heads are heavier in all the key areas...wouldn't consider much else ...for the extra $100...cheap peace of mind , IMHO.

for the price you looking at, it maybe better money spent to upgrade to the 4.0
A LOT more bang for the buck...again IMO

Cannot be compared!

Remanufactored heads are severily WORN heads that have been repaired. These heads will work for a while. But remember the process of remanufactoring them has taken worn heads and then ground away even more of the head parts to make them work again. The valves aren't sitting in the same location as new heads as the wear and grinding has set the valve seats lower into the head casting.
If there is a chance to use NEW heads.. always take it! I never rebuild a head. If a head has a burnt valve I just replace that one valve and leave the others alone.
There is no substitute for a new head.
