Im new around here, just like to say hi to everyone and thanks for any info you leave here:icon_cheers:

Okay so tommorow im going to look at a 91 Ranger extended cab, its got the 3.0 V6 and a 5 speed manual, anything i really have to watch out for on these trucks?

Don't get it if it has the 14 inch wheels. They don't handle worth a flip!!!!

ok, so the flip easy and they dont handle worth a crap. i know it has factory aluminum rims on it im not sure if its 2 or 4 wheel drive anything specific i need to look at on these rangers that are problems?

all i can say is listen to the engine, check every feature and check that when you hit the brakes it doesnt pull to one side. you may wanna research it before you buy it too. id avoid a 7.5 open rear end, but thats just me.

if the price is right, don't worry about the 7.5 open, you can replace it with a 8.8 LS.. but idk if i'd recommend the 3.0 to anyone, i'd rather find the 4.0 in one

Look at the rear spring hangers. IDK about the 2nd gen Rangers (89-92), but 3rd gens (93-97) seem to have that problem alot where the rear spring hangers rot out and the rear of the truck sits really low.

its got 179,000 kms on it only, and it needs a battery so idk if its driveable, didnt go today the guy wasnt around. im looking for a DD on the cheap. He wants $1000 bucks for it and it apparently only has one rust hole about the size of a toonie? it also has sat in a garage for about a year so no elements.

Sounds like an alright deal.

check for the infamous, leaf spring hanger and shackel rot

That is true, my 93 had real bad rot. I'm pretty sure it came from Maine or something, not sure how it ended up here though:icon_confused:

will look at the rear suspension, thanks alot guys. been a real help. hard to do research on this truck because it is some guy from my dads work. Is there plastic wheel wells in the bed or are they just open?

so the truck was a rust bucket and smashed in the passengers rear corner, needed 4 tires, windshield LOTS of bodywork, battery and only god knows what else it needed.....
